Here are some updated pictures of the (no longer) little guys!
I'm pleased to announce that we have another Catastrophic Cockatiel!! This little boy's name is "Jerome", and he's a normal split to white face, cinnamon, lutino, and pearl! This little guy is a definite keeper! We are going to be holding him back to eventually breed. He's the first baby we've had from Mystic and Steve, and is 12 days old and already a real cutey! We also have some good news about the older babies! They're doing very well, all are eating mostly on their own, gaining weight, and being sweet and adorable as always. Tweety and Sylvester's 3 weigh 78, 76, and 78g, while tango and chacha's 2 weigh 88 and 93g! These are good weights for their ages, but as stated earlier, they are not allowed to leave until they weigh at least 90g. They are currently only on comfort feedings, and should be weaned very soon! Here are some updated pictures of the (no longer) little guys!

The babies are doing great! All are sampling pellets, seeds, kale, millet, celery, and their cuttle bone. They are all currently on 2 feedings a day, going down to 1 next week. These guys aren't quite weaned yet.
Before they go to their new homes, I'd like to mention my "rules" before I let them leave. They must be completely weaned- as in they do not get fed, do not beg for feedings, and can maintain their weight for at least 4 days on their own. For birds that are going to people more than 1 hour away, I prefer that they wait a full week before leaving. The birds also must weigh at least 85g, they should mature to between 90-110g. This is to assure that they are a healthy weight. They must also be in general good health and have good feather condition, which is not a problem with these guys but I've had plucked babies that did not regrow their feathers completely until they were 5 months old! At this rate, these guys should be good to go around the first-second week of December. They are closed NCS banded and come with 3 day health guarantees, hatch certificates, and information packets! Here are some current pictures of them! Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving! Just wanted to show you guys how the babies are doing! They all have feathers now, all are on 3 feedings a day. They're starting to groom themselves and flap their wings, getting ready to learn how to fly! They will be getting their first nail trims this weekend. The older three (tweety and sylvester's babies) have been pulled for handfeeding today! They are currently settling into their new brooder, snuggled up to a teddy bear! These little guys are going to be very sweet, cuddly birds when they grow up.
Tango and cha-cha's two are still with their parents, but they will be joining the older trio next weekend. The older babies are now posted in our "available birds" page! Price and details can be found there. We have even MORE exciting news! Our white face lutino/fallow hen and cinnamon pearl male have an egg! It would be expected to hatch around November 14th. We will post more updates on the new parents as they become available! but now, BABY PICTURES!!!! Hey everyone! Just wanted to post some current baby pics! Check their captions for details!
Hey everyone! After receiving several (some questionable) emails, I just want to post a quick reminder: we are NOT currently looking to purchase any birds, cockatiel or otherwise. If we are looking to buy, we will post it both on this forum and on our "home" page. If you need help finding your bird a home, we are more than happy to ask around or point you in the right direction though!
Thanks for understanding! The babies are lively, sweet, and growing fast! The oldest is now a little over 2 weeks old, and the youngest is about a week old. It's looking like we have 2 lutinos, 1 cin pearl pied, 2 pieds, and 1 either pied or normal. We were having issues with the babies slipping out of their bands, so their numbers are in order. Once everyone has pins and bands I'll post a final availability, price, and info list.
Well, the babies are all around a week old now. You know what that means? BANDS! The older three were banded on 10/8, the other three will be banded on tuesday. Band number:
2014NCS 17C 1-6. In other news, eyes are starting to open! these guys are just getting cuter by the day. |
